We’re always on the look out for new and refreshing ways to utilise and repurpose reclaimed whisky barrels. One of the simplest yet creative uses we’ve come across to date is this wall mounting of oak staves by Keira O’Donnell who has beautifully captured the original form and character of the retired cask with this beautiful wall presentation.

Keira and her husband Paul are currently renovating and modernising a Victorian property in Toronto. The full scope of the works the O’Donnell’s have undertaken can be viewed at Keira’s insightful blog The Bennet House.

The World’s Largest Whisky Collection

Now housed in Edinburgh at the ‘Scotch Whisky Experience’ this collection of over 3400 bottles of Scotch was purchased by Diageo in 2008 from Claive Vidiz, a Brazilian Whisky collector and donated to the ‘Scotch Whisky Experience’ to take centre stage in the £2million Royal Mile tourist attraction.

100 year old Shackleton Whisky

When Shackleton was preparing for his 1907 expedition to Antarctica, he ordered twenty five cases of Highland malt whisky. 100 years later conservators from the Antarctic Heritage Trust discovered five frozen crates beneath Shackleton’s camp at Cape Royds revealing the century old “Mackinlay’s Rare Old Highland Whisky”.
